Khorasan, one of the most important regions in the history and culture of ancient Persia, is situated in the north-est of Iran. From popular to the classical, the very rich music of Khorasan is divided to several main branches, each one representing an aspect of this musical culture with its own repertoire and instruments.
Goriz ensemble was created in 2016 to bring together two different branches of Khorasani music: Popular and classical. Its founder Saeid Tehranizadeh, an experienced Dotar player, explains that they want to show new aspects of the old Khorasani music and perform ancient pieces in a contemporary style, presenting new arrangements and compostions.
