Amir Sharifi is an Iranian Tar and Setar player and composer who lives in Tehran. He learned playing Tar and Setar with Dariush Talai, Mohammad Reza Lotfi, Dariush Pirniakan and Hatam Asgari. Later he obtained his bachelor and then a master degrees of Iranian music at Tehran University where he gives theoretical and practical lessons. He is the co-founder of Naqsh ensemble and he participates in several other live and recording projects as musician and composer. Thanks to his research and practical experiences, Amir Sharifi is one of rare composers whose compositional style is enriched by the pre-Qajar Persian classical music (15th to 17th centuries).
